Brick Training and Evaluation Camp
JULY 30-AUGUST 1, 2019 | AGES ’10-’11 | NESC, MARLBORO, MA
The Brick Training & Evaluation Camp is for 8 and 9 year olds who are interested in playing for the B’s Brick team during their 10 year old season. The Brick T&E Camp takes place every August over a three day period and allows the Junior Bruins staff to work with and evaluate those that are potential Brick team players.
We learned that most teams that go to the Brick start their process years ahead of time in evaluating and training their players. We have made some changes to our AAA tournament teams in regards to the makeup, player selection process and more so that we are better prepared for the Brick tournament each year.
We are going to start the process for all those interested in the Brick tournament to attend an August camp that will involve training as well as be another venue for us to evaluate the players. This camp allows our staff to work with the players and see how they have progressed from one year to the next. Players interested in our Brick team are not required to be at this camp but it does provide three days and six on ice sessions for our staff to get to know your son better.
A common question we field is, “what are you looking for in a player or what does my son need to improve on to make the team?”. We are often asked after our tryouts for a detailed evaluation as well and our tryout format does not allow for that. This camp is aimed at answering that question and giving detailed feedback on a players skill set/performance.

THIS CAMP WILL SERVE SEVERAL PURPOSES:
- Three great days of training and teaching from the Bruins staff. Most camps will have a wide variety of talent yet we will screen all applicants to our camp and ensure the talent level is high.
- Each player will get a detailed evaluation from our staff that will include strengths and weaknesses and areas of the players game that need work. This will give those interested in the Brick team for the coming tournament four months to address those areas before tryouts take place in December/January and 16 months for the younger group in preparation for the Brick two years out.
- This also allows player from out of area who we may not be familiar with to spend three days with our staff so we can better get to know them and their game.
THERE WILL BE SIX ON ICE SESSIONS OVER THE THREE DAYS (EXACT FORMAT SUBJECT TO CHANGE):

Defenseman / Combat Camp
JULY 22-25, 2019 | AGES ’07-’11 | NESC, MARLBORO, MA
The key to being an elite defenseman is knowing how to handle a 1-1 and our Defenseman/Combat Camp will focus on the fundamentals of 1-1 play. While it is called a Defenseman Camp, it is not limited to defensemen only. We have a camper breakdown that is typically 80% defenseman/20% forwards. It is imperative for a forward to be able to play defense. You never know when your son might be moved to defense.
This camp features limited enrollment, Division 1, pro players and former Bruins defensemen as instructors. The focus is on defensive skills such as “gap” control, body checking, play in front of the net, break outs, and communication skills on ice. The main focus will be on “one on one” play. As your son climbs the ladder in the hockey world, being able to handle a “one on one” is essential.
Since 2000, the first year this camp was offered, we have slowly worked in more of an emphasis on 1-1 play and we feel this is the foundation that every good defensemen is built on. 1-1′s in open up, corners, in front of the net, etc. Teaching the proper techniques and enforcing them over the week together will be the focus. A defensemen with a solid foundation of 1-1 skills will always have a place on a team.
While the camp may have a wide variety of ages, the players will only compete against those at their same age/skill level.

Power Skating Camp
July 29-August 1, 2019 | All Ages | NESC Marlboro, MA
There is no quicker way to improve as a hockey player than becoming a better skater. Too often the off season is spent playing games and with puck/stick development and not enough time working on your stride.
The single best way to become a better player is working on your stride. With Dina and Alex Volpicelli leading our Power Skating School you will become a better skater. They will work on and teach the fundamentals of the proper stride. Already a strong skater? They will fine tune your stride to make sure it is as efficient as possible.
Dina and Alex have 30+ years experience between them and have taught hundreds of players over their careers.
